Are financial aid or scholarships offered?

Yes, Chapman provides various financial aid options, including scholarships, grants, loans, work study and federal student aid.

  • Merit-Based Scholarships: Merit/academic scholarships are reserved for our most qualified transfer students. We consider GPA, progress within general education, quality of college curriculum and past/current grade patterns. Awarding of merit scholarships is at the discretion of the admission committee. If applying by the deadline, students are automatically considered for these awards. If earned, merit scholarship information will be included with your offer of admission.
  • Departmental Scholarships: Departmental/talent scholarships are also available to deserving transfer students. When students apply to any major within the departments of Art, Dance, the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music or Theatre, they are automatically considered for scholarships.
  • Need-Based Awards: Need-based awards are determined by your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and family’s financial situation. To be considered, you must submit your FAFSA at fafsa.gov. Chapman’s FAFSA school code is 001164. These awards include:
    • Awards from the government, such as federal grants, state grants and federal work study
    • Chapman Grants and Housing Grants
  • Veterans and Dependents Funding: Chapman University is pleased to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program of the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33). To learn more about resources for veterans and dependents, ROTC, reserves and military-connected members, email va@chapman.edu.
  • Additional merit aid for select honor societies: Chapman recognizes the importance of honor societies within our transfer population, as they can enrich the community college experience prior to transferring onto a 4-year college. That’s why transfer applicants who are eligible for merit scholarships at Chapman and are members of either of the following organizations are also eligible for additional scholarships of up to $5,000 per year:

These scholarships can be combined with the Chapman merit scholarship and will be indicated in your offer of admission.
